PBR Metal Roofing

Affordable exposed fastener metal roofing for homes, shops, and outbuildings

Affordable Protection with PBR Metal Roofing

Our 29-gauge PBR panels deliver a clean look and reliable protection at a competitive price. The PBR profile adds a long bearing leg at each overlap, which increases stability and makes fastening more secure than standard R-panels.

Understanding Our PBR Metal Roofing System

PBR metal roofing is an exposed fastener system, which means the screws that secure the panels to your framing are visible on the outside of the roof. Here's how it works:

  • Trapezoidal Panel Design: The PBR panels feature a trapezoidal profile with alternating ridges and valleys that create a strong, attractive appearance.
  • Overlapping Panels: The trapezoidal panels overlap along their sides, creating a continuous protective barrier that sheds water effectively.
  • Exposed Fastener System: Screws are driven directly through the outside face of the metal, typically into the flat area of the panel ribs. This is a proven, economical fastening method used in metal roofing for decades.
  • Sealed Fasteners: Each screw is equipped with a neoprene or EPDM rubber washer that compresses when the screw is properly tightened, creating a watertight seal around the penetration point.

PBR uses exposed screws, with each fastener sealed by a rubber washer. When installed carefully, this straightforward system is an economical, long-lasting choice for metal roofing.

Why Choose PBR Panels?

  • Highly Economical: Get a durable metal roof without breaking your budget
  • Structural Purlin Bearing Leg: The extended edge rests flat against your framing, providing better support when fastening the sheets
  • Lightweight & Practical: Easy to handle, cut, and install on both residential and post-frame projects
  • Low Maintenance: Resists rot, pests, and weather, requiring minimal upkeep over its lifespan
  • Versatile Applications: Perfect for roofing and siding on a variety of structures
  • Quick Installation: Straightforward installation reduces labor costs and project timeline

Our PBR Panel Installation Process

1. Initial Consultation

We assess your structure, discuss your needs, and explain the benefits of PBR metal panels. We also review color options and the installation timeline.

2. Proposal & Agreement

We provide a detailed estimate covering all materials and labor. Once approved, we order your custom-fabricated panels and schedule installation.

3. Preparation

We protect your property and prepare the work area. We also verify that framing spacing meets PBR panel requirements.

4. Removal (if needed)

Old roofing or siding materials are carefully removed and properly disposed of according to local regulations.

5. Underlayment Installation

Ice and water shield is installed at eaves for superior leak protection, followed by synthetic felt underlayment over the remaining roof deck for added moisture protection.

6. Panel Installation

PBR panels are installed to specification. The structural purlin bearing leg adds stability and helps secure each panel to the framing.

7. Trim & Flashing

Custom-fabricated trim pieces and flashing are installed at eaves, rakes, ridges, and penetrations to provide weathertight protection.

8. Final Inspection, Cleanup & Walkthrough

We clean up debris, inspect the finished roof, and review the project with you. We also provide care instructions and answer your questions before we leave the job site.

Preparing Your Property for a Metal Roof

Starting a metal roof project is an exciting upgrade for your property—both in appearance and protection. A little preparation on your end helps everything run more smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

Outside Work Area

The space around your structure becomes an active work zone during installation. Crews need room for ladders, equipment, materials, and safe movement around the entire perimeter of the structure.

To prepare the exterior:

  • Move patio furniture, grills, planters, and outdoor décor at least 10–15 feet away from the structure
  • Store hoses, garden tools, bird feeders, and loose items in a garage or shed
  • Relocate firewood, storage bins, or anything leaning against the house
  • Remove or secure decorative items attached to gutters or fascia

Keeping the perimeter clear allows the installation team to work safely and efficiently while helping protect your belongings from falling debris.

Protecting Landscaping and Plants

We understand your landscaping is an important part of your property's appearance. We take precautions to minimize impact on your yard and garden, and you can help too.

What we do:

  • Install protective tarps on the ground around the work area to catch debris and fasteners
  • Use magnetic rollers and careful cleanup methods for thorough debris removal
  • Take care when positioning ladders and equipment near landscaping
  • Protect gutters and downspouts during tear-off and installation

What you can do:

  • Move potted plants, delicate shrubs, or container gardens away from the structure
  • Mark particularly delicate or valuable plants with small flags or stakes
  • Trim back any branches or vegetation touching or near the roofline
  • Mow your lawn short before work begins to make cleanup easier

We also recommend turning off automatic sprinklers during the project. Dry ground helps maintain a safer work area and makes cleanup more effective.

Driveway Access and Jobsite Logistics

Metal panel installation requires deliveries of materials, equipment, and disposal containers placed on-site. Ensuring clear access helps the project stay on schedule.

Please keep in mind:

  • Park personal vehicles on the street or away from the driveway to keep access clear
  • Unlock gates and provide clear access to all sides of the structure
  • Secure pets indoors or in a safe area away from the work zone
  • Notify us of any overhead power lines or other obstacles near the structure

These simple steps help avoid delays and allow the crew to move materials efficiently throughout the project.

What to Expect During Installation

Metal panel installation involves noise, debris, and activity during working hours. Being prepared can make the experience much more comfortable for your household.

We recommend:

  • Keeping windows closed during tear-off and installation to reduce dust and noise
  • Notifying neighbors in advance about the project timeline
  • Planning for temporary disruption to satellite dishes or roof-mounted equipment
  • Identifying any outdoor power outlets if needed for equipment use

Our goal is to complete the work efficiently while delivering high-quality results and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
